Justice FCU History

Serving Those Who Serve Justice
In 1935, 12 individuals pooled their resources and formed what is now known as Justice Federal Credit Union® - a financial cooperative designed to exclusively serve and aid the employees of the Department of Justice. The main office was located in the Main Justice Building. A second full service office was opened 40 years later in the J. Edgar Hoover Building.

Satellite Branches
The 90's saw the launching of eight satellite branches in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area, Clarksburg, WV, and New York City. These were locations which fulfilled all the activities of full-service branches except for the cash service at the teller line. To fulfill the cash function, ATMs and cash dispensers were installed in these locations.

Continuous Innovation
The financial success provided Justice FCU the opportunity to make great strides in improving many systems and introducing new products and services. Justice FCU now offers several Visa credit cards, a variety of home and consumer loans, diverse savings instruments, investment and insurance services, 28 Justice FCU ATM locations, memberships in four ATM networks, another call center in West Virginia, eStatements, eLERTs, Online Bill Pay, and home banking to provide members with unlimited access to their finances from anywhere in the world. In 2005, we joined forces with Financial Service Centers Cooperative (FSCC) shared branch network. This unique partnership allows us to process transactions on accounts at other credit unions for our members as well as non-members. This service is currently available at the Wilshire West branch,  FBI and DEA Houston branches, and the FBI Branch in New York. Within the near future, all Justice FCU branch locations nationwide will become FSCC branches.

Into The Future
Although much has changed during the past 75 years, one central element has remained constant -Justice FCU's commitment to the Department of Justice, its employees, affiliated groups and family members. Justice FCU continues to build on the tradition on which credit unions were founded. New products, expanded services, and more locations will become available as Justice FCU strives to be the premier provider of retail and financial services to the justice and law enforcement communities across the nation.
